Newspaper Obituary Submission Instructions:

obits@ruffinjarrett.com

Through special arrangement with the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home has the ability to submit obituaries electronically to the newspaper.

If you want the obituary to run the following day, please send the information to us no later than 1:00 pm. The newspaper cut-off time is 1:45 pm, so the sooner you get the obituary to Ruffin and Jarrett, the better the chances are for it running the next day.  Once we receive the obituary from you, our staff goes over it, checking/correcting spelling, grammar, continuity, and punctuation.  We then submit it to the newspaper to be added to their obituary section.

After you send the obituary, you should receive an email confirmation letting you know that it has been delivered to the funeral home's in-box. Please note that it is always a good idea to call your assigned funeral director to let her know you have sent the obituary.

Please see below for an example of a standard obituary.

SUBMITTING YOUR OBITUARY ELECTRONICALLY:

All Obituary information should be emailed to obits@ruffinjarrett.com

Be sure to put the deceased’s name in the subject line.  If there are any special instructions, please include them in the body of the email. Additionally, in case we have any questions, please be sure to include a contact name and phone number.

Any attachments sent with the email should be in Microsoft Word format (.doc)

When sending pictures, please make sure they are a .JPG format.

Our Graphic Artist is able at times to digitally repair old, torn, or discolored photographs. If you have a picture that you would like to use but it needs some attention, please submit it and we will let you know if it is possible for us to clean it up enough to be used. See example below:
